Sandgate boasts some very fine places to eat and drink. There are many take-aways ranging from the traditional fish and chips to a spicy Indian or Thai. We are lucky to have a fine baker which produces delicious fresh loaves at the Farmers’ Market every two weeks. Sandgate has some lovely pubs and restaurants which are cosy and serve fresh local produce. There are really good gourmet burgers, homemade pies and steaks on the menus. All of the pubs and restaurants offer vegetarian options and some are dog friendly too!

Lido Bon Vino is a new restaurant serving food at the Sandgate hotel. Serving Italian pasta and pizza in the restaurant with stunning views across to the beach. They are dog friendly as there are seats outside on the balcony.
Sandgate Vaults is a contemporary restaurant and cellar bar located in Sandgate high street. It is a relaxed restaurant which has a great selection of English and European dishes, such as braised lamb shanks, steaks and a great selection of pies.
The Boat House is a seaside cafe located right on the promenade in Sandgate. The cafe offers a great selection of toasted sandwiches, breakfasts, cakes and ice-creams. There is even dog friendly ice creams on offer! The Boat House sells fresh vegan cinnamon buns, made by @wilder.buns.

The Dog House is an Artisan cafe. All their food is freshly made and home produced by three generations of bakers and chefs. The Golden Arrow pub is a family and dog friendly pub nestled in the Golden Valley, Sandgate. There is a sports bar area with a pool table. The Golden Arrow is the place to be if you like to watch live matches and other live sporting events, as they have a selection of large screens. Read more
The Royal Norfolk Hotel is located close to the beach in Sandgate. The Gees bar has a lovely sun terrace which overlooks Henry VIII’s 15th century castle. The sun terrace is open daily, weather permitting. The Gees bar is dog friendly and serves a small selection of bar snacks.
The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the beach and has a selection of Superior and Standard Rooms.
It is a traditional pub in Sandgate with a cosy snug and a sea view restaurant. The Restaurant serves a varied menu, featuring homemade specials from local produce, and great bar snacks. Drinks can be enjoyed in the bar or on the first-floor sun terrace that has spectacular Channel views.
Yaps Cycle Cafe is a bike service/ repair shop that serves coffee, freshly made cakes, savoury goods and smoothies. They also sell a range of cycle parts and provide bike services. Walk-ins are available but it is preferred to call and book in.
